I guess I was really busy today because I didn’t manage to check the results of American Idol’s Top 16 until 30 minutes ago. So the ones who didn’t make the Top 12 cut are Luke Menard, Danny Noriega, Kady Malloy and Asia’h Epperson. None of them are my favourite. In fact, I thought they should have left the contest a loooooooooooooooong time ago. The two female contestants should have left last week, at least, instead of Alaina Withaker and Alexandrea Lushington.
Anywho, I was a bit surprised that Asia’h Epperson is out so soon. I knew she’d leave soon but I thought Kristy Lee Cook would leave earlier than her. I can’t picture her as a strong country singer. IMHO, Alaina would make a much better country artist. Alas, Alaina just didn’t have rezeki (luck).
Well, what can I say about Luke Menard and Danny Noriega? Menard had stayed too long in the contest. I knew he was a goner when he sang Wham!’s Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go), succeeded in sounding a bit like George Michael but not good enough pass as even a second rate George Michael. What a waste! I’m so glad that Americans saw the light.
Danny? I love Danny but Tainted Love, sung by Danny, sounded weird. Danny’s the life of the show, in my opinion but if he had stayed any longer, he would be just as annoying as Sanjaya was last year. I’m glad he “quit while he was ahead” 😛
I don’t know why we have to bother with a Top 12 because less than half of the contestants are really worth watching — David A and C; Michael, Jason Yeager and Brooke White. I used to root for Carly Smithson — I still think she’s got good vocals — but her singing bores me. In my honest opinion, Chikezea Eze, David H, Kristy Lee, Ramielle and Syesha are just rejects of past Idol seasons like season 5 and 6. Good but not good enough it there had been better, more charismatic singers.
So I think the five of them will be among the to leave the Top 12. Did I miss someone? Oh yeah, Amanda Over
bearingmyer. She has got the makings of a god contestant but her one trick is really getting old. I predict that she will, at the most, stay on the Top 8. I think the girls will leave one by one, in no particular order and then followed by Chikezea and David H etc. But this is just my prediction.
The one to beat is, I think, still David A. I hope that the Top 3 this year will be male dominated (my prediction is David A, Michael and David C). I’d really love to see that. No offence to the girls but I think it’s a guy’s year this year. Brooke White has the potential to be the female representative in th Top 3 provided she keeps surprising voters. She’s becoming a little predictable now – singing with little band support. I think that’s cheating because anyone of them will sound great with a little echo to the microphone. To be fair, Jason Yeager has to start thinking of new tricks too — no more singing with minimal band music, ok? And David A has to lighten up and not sing “thinking” songs for a while. He’s young and should appeal to voters his age. Singing John Lennon and Phil Collins doesn’t sound like a great idea to garner support from the youth 🙂
Anywho, it’s late and I need to get some rest. Later!
