You make my brown eyes… brown

For the longest time, I have avoided getting myself coloured contact lenses.

Before, I didn’t see the need for them. I used to think that wearing greyish-blueish contact lenses would make me look “dead eyed” and brown = “red eyed” = scary. But after seeing all these advertisements on iris enhancing contact lenses — which claim to make eyes bigger and more attractive — I thought I just had to try them.

So on Thursday morning, I happened to be passing by the spectacle shop near my office and saw their display on FreshKon eye enhancing lenses. So, I popped by to ask about the price. It’s only RM70 per pair for 30 days. Certainly cheaper than the other J&J brand which packages it as daily disposable lenses. That brand is going for close to RM200 for 15 pairs. That means they will last you just 15 days.

Having made the comparison, I thought to myself, “hey, this (freshKon brand) is a bargain!” and paid on the spot. I needed a new pair of lenses anyway, so I got myself the winsome brown tinted lenses and a pair of normal lenses.

Yesterday, my neighbour Racha3l — who had just come back to work from her back-to-back assignments to Perh3ntian and Chiangmai — noticed the difference the lenses have made to my eye shape WITHOUT my pointing it out. We were talking and she suddenly became quiet and asked: “Are you wearing coloured contacts?”

She said they made my eyes looked “lighter and bigger”. Cool!

I’m glad I didn’t go for the black-ish tinted lenses. Seriously, they made my eyes look spooky and I am talking about Ju-On spooky. I certainly don’t want to resemble a Japanese horror movie character!

I don’t know if it is possible for anyone to look attractive with those lenses on. They will attract attention alright but for all the wrong reasons!

Truth be told, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless they want to scare people away 😛

I’m definitely keeping my tinted lenses but I haven’t decided whether I want to continue purchasing them next month. Should I or should I graduate to new shades like grey/blue? Nah… brown is enough for now, I think. One shade at a time Suzi3, one shade at a time…
