After spending two and a half days covering the just concluded 1caskl5 held in kl/cc (not sur1a), I thought I’d be nice to reward myself for working all weekend with a new mp3 player/recorder/radio tuner purchased at the p1kom p/c fair (which incidentally took place at the same venue).
I have to admit that I was a little intimidated when I saw people visiting the fair in droves, NON-STOP. I’ve never been to such a fair before and I avoided them like the plague because I just can’t stand crowds. I have a minor phobia of crowds, I think. But when my colleague J3han told me about/showed me her new cool 2gig MP3 player which she bought for RM299, I knew I’d be extremely sorry if I decided to give the fair a miss. I mean, I was already there for two and a half days anyway. Why not?
So, I went and got my 1gig mp3 of the same brand as J3han’s. Mine looks like this.

I have uploaded I think about 100 songs into the MP3 player, which by the way is supposed to be my digital voice recorder as well. Do I still have room for some wav files ah? Sigh… guess I need to get my mini sd soon. Oh yeah, did I tell you I can insert a 2 gig mini sd in the mp3 player to extend its memory? Cool eh? That’s why I bought it.
J3han’s mp3 players looks a lot slicker than mine actually but the 1gig one is all I can afford at the moment, I am afraid. Tak perlah… it’s still cool :) and still charging on my laptop’s usb port as I write this. If I keep it charged for 3 hours, I’ll get 15 hours of battery life… apparently lah. That’s nice because my current mp3 player uses a AAA battery.
The mp3 player also comes with its own earphone — which I won’t use much since I already have the one I bought in Tawau last month.
Anyhow, tomorrow is a normal working day for me and J3han (whom btw also covered the conference with me for the last two and a half days – she actually spent 3 full days there). We’re both preparing the stories from the conference this for next week’s issue.
I would say it was a weekend spent productive, and that’s not just because we spent it working. It has been a very interesting few days and I really learned a lot from the talks/sessions I attended. One presentation that will last with me for some time is the Japanese male hosts (or guest relations officers) phenomenon. I remember seeing these young boys standing outside of clubs in Tokyo three years ago trying to get people into the clubs but I had no idea what was going on. Rupa-rupanya they are male hosts who are trying to be the No 1 male host there. Anyone who tops the chart/rank can actually end up being a millionaire because their women customers actually spend USD30,000 per month on them. But more of that later. I am exhausted, to be perfectly honest. I’ll talk to you soon.
P/S: My husband is testing the mp3 now. I love the blue screen. The sound quality is also good. Perfect for my gym session, which reminds me, I should really revisit the gym tomorrow :P Lama sangat dah tak pergi. Now I have a perfectly good reason to go!
UPDATE:
The voice files recorded using my new mp3 are crystal clear. Bagus!
